Wiring Tech (Wiring Technician)

Primary Objective of Position
Plans, routes, installs and repairs various electrical components on custom fire trucks according to order specifications. Identifies electrical problems using a variety of testing devices.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
– Design electrical layout of fire trucks with or without blueprints as needed
– Rewire and modify wiring
– Run and test communication cables and all electrical wiring
– Run, interpret and explain diagnostic software
– Perform work under general supervision and handle moderately complex problems. Occasionally work with team members and others outside of the Specialty Vehicles group
– Possess solid working knowledge of the subject matter and may serve as a resource for projects or for external questions
– Interact directly with clients for training or troubleshooting purposes
– Consistently works with an eye toward safety and continuous improvement for self and others
– Other responsibilities may be assigned based on business need

– Able to read and interpret layouts and technical diagrams
– Able to utilize a DVOM
– Mechanically inclined and comfortable using a variety of tools

Other Requirements:
– High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of relevant electrical experience required
– Trade or Business School preferred
– Familiar with National Electric Code standards
– Experience with installation and troubleshooting of 12VDC, 24VDC 110VAC-240VAC,
– Understanding of multiplexed wiring systems and CAD experience preferred
– Occasional travel may be required
