CLERK III, CHSS – BENSON/WILCOX – Duties and Responsibilities:

CLASSIFIED: Position is subject to the provisions of the Merit System
Rules pursuant to Arizona Law.

PLEASE NOTE:All Cochise County positions require a post-offer,
pre-employment background screening.

PLEASE NOTE: Must pass Level I fingerprint clearance.

Under general supervision performs office and clerical work of moderate
difficulty; performs related work as assigned.

Essential Functions: (Illustrative Only)

– Exercises supervision over clerical personnel as assigned.
– Assigns and evaluates the work of other clerical personnel.
– Compiles data and prepares reports.
– Maintain records.
– Check and proofreads materials.
– Receives, sorts, indexes, files, and retrieves forms, correspondence
and documents.
– Checks and completes records, forms and documents.
– Receives and distributes correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications:

– May be required to perform data input.
– High School diploma or equivalent.
– Three (3) years of general clerical experience.
– Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona drivers license and the
ability to be covered by county insurance.
– Type 45 wpm.
– An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which
comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be
considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals who
read, write, and speak Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

– Considerable knowledge of:
– Office practices and procedures.
– Business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
– Clerical and office practices and procedures.
– Working knowledge of:
– Staff training and development methods.
– Considerable skill in:
– Use of word processing and data processing system.
– Planning, organizing, and maintaining work flow.
– Developing and adapting office procedures.
– Supervising and training other employees.
– Ability to:
– Make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
– Maintain records and prepares reports.
– Establish and maintain effective working relationships with
employees, other agencies, and the public.
– Follow written and verbal instructions.
– Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

– Work is primarily performed under direct supervision. Incumbent
generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate
climate controls.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

– Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual
dexterity, ability to communicate.
– Sedentary Work:
– Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a
negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift,
carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human
body.
– Involves sitting majority of time.
– Walking and standing are required only occasionally and all
other sedentary criteria are met.

Mental Application:

– Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional
stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative
problem-solving skills are important.
