Responsibilities

Oversees a multifunctional team within Mayo Clinic’s Department of Development that is responsible for content strategy in support of benefactor engagement and fundraising. Leads distinct team functions to establish and advance communications best practices for benefactor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, recognition and events. Embraces innovation and a multichannel, multimedia approach for benefactor engagement across in-person, digital and print experiences. Builds consensus among stakeholders and partnering teams for new solutions that achieve a high touch and/or scalability based on business needs. Provides leadership, mentorship and career development to staff, and exhibits Mayos leadership model capabilities in inspiring values, engaging colleagues, bold and forward thinking and driving results. Serves as an expert in the field of Development Communications and is a trusted advisor to senior leaders, physicians, researchers and administrators. Proactively manages complex projects and leads continuous improvement. Demonstrates willingness and ability to manage change cross functionally and helps team navigate ambiguity. Conducts annual planning and has a keen understanding of external environment, target audiences and business needs to develop and measure strategic communications plans, as well as supporting processes and systems. Coordinates and collaborates extensively across Mayo Clinic to ensure positive results.

Qualifications

A Bachelors degree in a related field, which may include liberal arts, business, communications, marketing, healthcare or similar field and 10 years professional experience in the field of communications, fundraising or marketing with at least three years experience leading and managing high-performing teams OR a Masters degree in a related field and 8 years professional experience in the field of communications fundraising or marketing, with at least three years experience leading and managing high-performing teams.
