Job Summary:
Ensure timely, accurate and proper processing of Accounts Payable transactions for Middlesex and subsidiary companies, under the direction of the Accounts Payable Supervisor. Provide secondary support to the general accounting function assisting the department with basic accounting clerical support under the direction of the Accounting Manager.
Work Performed:
Accounts Payable
Open daily mail, distribute and prepare for accounts payable procedures.
Verify 3-way match of invoice, receiving document and purchase order.
Review account classification, prepare batches and enter invoices into automated accounts payable system.
Run job-related computer reports to verify input.
Issue and review weekly check/ACH payments. File paid invoices.
Reconciliation of vendor statements.
Assist with establishing and maintaining vendor files.
Assist Accounts Payable Supervisor in all facets of their job.
Respond to internal and external Accounts Payable inquiries.
General Accounting
Support accounting processes and assist staff as needed including, but not limited, to downloading and formatting financial reports and performing basic account analysis.
Analyze invoices for accrual and provide to accountants as necessary.
Assist as needed on requests from external auditors related to quarterly reviews, annual audit and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses as required.
Other
Assist in annual Escheat process. Assist on all ERP related implementations/updates, including testing.
Assist on data requests for rate cases as needed.
Assist Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller and Controller on ad hoc requests as required.
Qualifications:
High School diploma.
One to three year related experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires constant operation of a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, calculators.
Must have the ability to visually inspect and review hard copy and online documents.
Must be able to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, discuss and exchange information.
Use written, verbal and audio communication and information sources.
Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office and use stairs to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 % of the time
