Stew Leonard’s WINES began when Stew Leonard, Jr., the CEO and President of Stew Leonard’s food stores and his two sisters, Jill and Beth, and brother, Tom, were sitting at the dinner table. They realized the only item on the table that their business did not sell was the wine. The meal was fantastic, but the wine was just ok. Stew said to his sisters, “We can do better. Don’t you agree?”After seeing the success his sister Beth had opening her store in Yonkers, NY in 1999, Stew decided it was his turn. Stew opened up his store in Farmingdale, NY . Stew himself has studied wine through the Wine and Spirits Education Trust and has travelled to many of the greatest wine regions of the world. Stew Leonard’s Wines of Farmingdale is a customer-driven wine retailer focused on providing consumers with quality wines at great prices, world-class customer service and a pleasant shopping experience that takes the intimidation factor out of selecting wines.The Stew Leonard’s Mark is a registered trademark or service mark of Stew Leonard’s, a Connecticut partnership and is registered in the United States. Each wine store is independently owned and operated and is not part of a cooperative buying group or affiliated with the Stew Leonard’s food stores.

Position Description:

Scan items and take payment from customers, keeping the lines moving quickly, and helping customers with any questions or concerns. Ensuring accuracy at the register, and checking identification of customers ensuring the safe sale of alcoholic items

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately operates cash register (scanning and bagging products)

counts money bag and is responsible for the contents

understands the use of Vision computer system to look up products

knows the stores exclusive and focus items

works toward creating happy customers

collect email addresses

keeps the store clean.

Stocks register area

Effectively uses down time to stock and clean

Works toward basic wine and spirits knowledge
