Title: (NEX LITTLE CREEK) – LABORER Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 240003B2 Job Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support daily operations Duties and Responsibilities: Loads and unloads vehicles such as vans and trucks. Moves supplies and materials to an assigned location by handcart or pallet jack stacks materials for storage. Moves heavy boxes cartons mostly by hand, hand truck, dolly or pallet jack. Stacks, wraps, unwraps and stores merchandise and fixtures. Moves, assembles and arranges office furniture, store fixtures like shelving and tables, and may relocate these items between different locations as assigned. Performs daily shopping cart collecting functions, as well as minor maintenance of carts, replacement of wheels or parts . May monitor cart collecting equipment and handicapped carts to ensure properly functioning. Performs minor maintenance and repair functions such as: changing light bulbs, minor painting, and light handyman tasks. Will use hand and light power tools in performing these functions. May perform minor vehicle maintenance functions adding fluids, changing wiper blades, checking tire pressure etc. Performs storm preparation duties such as: placing sandbags securing property, and laying down ice melt or sand. Assists in after storm clean-up by clearing snow or water from designated areas. May use a snow shovel, snow blower, or wet vacuum. Assists with minor ground maintenance to include: weed abatement, mowing, light pruning, and spreading mulch. Uses hand tools, shovel, pruner, and light power tools, string trimmer, lawn mower, or snow blower . Performs general housekeeping functions. Maintains areas in clean and orderly manner Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who makes assignments and provides specific instructions on new or standard procedures. Work is reviewed for compliance with instructions. Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT Is frequently required to lift and carry weight up to 75 pounds with assistance. Pushes and pulls heavy objects such as: furniture and fixtures. Stands and walks for long periods of time. WORKING CONDITIONS Works inside or outside occasionally in inclement weather. May be subject to bruises, cuts, and scratches during execution of duties. This position is represented by the American Federation of Government Employees Local 22 TRAINING REQUIREMENT Associate must receive hazardous material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations Qualifications: Six months experienced performing manual labor tasks such as: loading and unloading trucks, moving supplies and materials by hand cart, stacking materials for storage, collecting refuse and salvageable material etc. Physical requirements Lifting and carrying weights up to 100 pounds with assistance. Pushing and pulling heavy objects such as: furniture and construction materials. Standing and walking for long periods of time.
