Job Description
The supervisor position manages all special event transportation and parking planning and implementation (including coordination with events managed separately by the Chartway Arena) at ODU . This position will also use all department parking enforcement systems, equipment and software to assist in the supervision of the patrolling of main campus and the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center parking lots and garages in accordance with parking regulations. The supervisor will oversee the performance of hourly and student enforcement employees and ensure they have adequate equipment, training and daily guidance. The position directly contributes to the successful representation of the University to the larger community.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Some knowledge of special event parking methods and procedures on a metropolitan university campus setting. Effective supervisory skills. Excellent people skills are required, including the demonstrated ability to positively direct customers, disseminate information, and defuse confrontations. Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as cloud-based program management software such as T2 Flex.
Demonstrated ability to lift/move/carry at least 25 lbs. Demonstrated ability to manage fiscal, human, and equipment resources effectively, as well as the flexibility to work nights/weekends based on event demands. Demonstrated ability to work in extreme heat or cold.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse customer group and work force. Ability to both plan for future events and simultaneously carry out plans for current events.Ability to learn and interpret parking regulations and procedures.

Level and type of experience
Working experience working in a service-oriented environment.Some experience working with data records and multiple software applications. Some experience performing transportation and/or parking related activities associated with special event planning. Some supervisory experience in a customer service industry.

Some related experience working in higher education or with campus transportation and parking services. Some experience working with databases, handheld electronic devices such as tablet computers. Some experience supervising a diverse work force.
Conditions of Employment
The employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing as directed by the supervisor.
This position primarily follows an 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule, however flexibility is required to accommodate campus events on some evenings and weekends.
Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $ – 32,842
