Job Description
This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director/Chair and Executive Director of the Diehn School of Music by auditing & reconciling the 8 budgets of the School of Music. It provides financial administrative services for the Chandler Recital Hall; invoicing, making deposits, ordering services etc. and oversees the expenditures of all budgets including Marching Band, with a goal amount of funds exceeding $450,000. It is responsible for effectively supervising the Monarch Marching Band Assistant who executes the fiscal needs of the MMB .

Considerable knowledge of business accounting/bookkeeping principles, practices and procedures, including Payroll. Some knowledge of customer service and problem resolution techniques. Some knowledge of effective supervisory techniques. Working knowledge of computer software and information systems used to prepare correspondence, manipulate data and produce reports. Effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent organization and time management skills. Strong proofreading skills to include the ability to pay close attention to detail. Strong data entry skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial transactions for accuracy. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to manage files, schedules and clerical procedures.

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience providing administrative support, managing budgets, tracking expenditures, coordinating schedules and other related tasks, to include payroll duties.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Some knowledge of ODU and Commonwealth of Virginia policies and procedures related to fiscal, payroll and human resources including hiring procedures. Some experience as a supervisor. Some experience with the Arts, especially music. Working experience with Banner or related software systems.
Conditions of Employment
