Administrative College Intern – Visa and Immigration

As an Administrative College Intern, you will develop a career in International Education relating to Visa and Immigration Services. This is an excellent opportunity to build your portfolio and expand your professional network. Interns have the opportunity to attend virtual professional development classes, shadow colleagues in other departments of interest and receive frequent feedback on progress. During your internship, you can expect to use your knowledge and skills to engage in unfamiliar tasks and activities, understand project management, develop best practices and apply knowledge and skills in an authentic business environment.
A caregiver in this position works 8:00AM – 5:00PM, hours are flexible based on class schedule.
The primary physical location for this position is on-site at CC Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. Candidates residing outside of Northeast Ohio will not be considered.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Research, compile, tabulate, and analyze data and processes for a variety of administrative and departmental matters.
Assist department personnel in assigned administrative, planning, organizational, technical, and professional tasks.
Provide suggestions or recommendations with regard to department specific projects.
Prepare and present reports, draft policies and procedures and respond to requests for information.
Database management: upload documents, update records, run reports and collect data.
Audit Labor Condition Application public files and purge outdated files.
Complete I-9 audits and re-verifications.
General office management: answer the phone, order supplies, maintain VIS calendar, assist the J-1 program manager with ECFMG applications, prepare form letters for tax purposes and drivers licenses, enter check requests through Oracle and maintain FedEx shipments.
Coordinate VIS webinar programming: invite and schedule guest speakers, send invites, schedule meeting space and serve as the point person on the webinar (recording, advancing slides, timekeeper etc.).
Verify and update tracking systems for VIS Team for various clients.
Maintain and edit policies and procedures.
Coordinate posting the Labor Condition Applications for GME/LRI trainees.
Assist with special projects.
Check Federal Register daily for updates and subscribe to USCIS, CBP and EVP emails.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Current college enrollment.
Ability to discuss and weigh pros and cons, separate critical issues, make definitive choices, express opinions on issues and explain logical path decisions.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Junior or Senior college student in an undergraduate liberal arts program.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Oracle and Workday.
Interested in global education, immigration, law, cultural competency, diversity, political science, business, project management and/or human resources.
Skills: business administration, human resources and communication
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling/lifting items, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent standing and sitting.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
