POSITION TITLE : Physician Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Medical
NATURE OF POSITION: The Physician Assistant provides health care services to patients under the supervision of a licensed medical physician (Medical Director or his/her designee). The Physician Assistant examines patients, performs physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data and health history. The Physician Assistant administers or orders diagnostic tests, laboratory tests and interprets test results. He/ she develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes and instructs and counsels patients regarding health care.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Chief Medical Officer
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Graduate of an accredited training program for physician assistants.
Certified by the state of Oklahoma to practice as a Physician Assistant.
Eligible for medical malpractice insurance.
Physical and mental capability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
Maintains current continuing CME requirements and other credentialing and privileging Criteria required for position.
Possesses DEA, and Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drug (OBNDD) Control Certificate
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical:
Provides direct patient care, which includes obtaining a thorough and appropriate history , accurately performing the appropriate clinical exam, arranging testing, therapy, and follow up.
Documents each patient encounter in the patient record, clearly and concisely, on the day the patient encounter takes place.
Serves as a participant on rotational call schedule with other clinicians.
Consults supervising or alternate physician when appropriate .
Initiates patient referrals as necessary and communicates with the referral clinician or agency.
Maintains and improves clinical skills by attending health center provider meetings, journal clubs, internet and other meetings .
Administrative:
Participates in provider meetings, quality assurance committees, and staff meetings.
Serves as a teacher of other health care professionals and as a clinical community leader.
Performs other duties as assigned .
