Owners Inspector Lead

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Owners Inspector Lead to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works onsite with a 9×80 schedule located out of our Willow Creek Building in Idaho Falls, Idaho with every other Friday off.
You will report to the Quality Assurance Lead. The Owners Inspector Lead is the QA Programs contact for all ASME piping projects at Idaho National Lab facilities.
The ASME Owners Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that piping systems are designed, constructed, and maintained in compliance with the applicable ASME piping code(s). The Owner’s Inspector works closely with engineers, contractors, and other partners to ensure that all aspects of the piping systems meet code, standards, or regulation requirements. The Owner’s Inspector can perform inspections and tests or verify the completion of inspections and tests of piping materials, components, and systems during fabrication, installation, and maintenance. The Owner’s Inspector reviews and approves design documents, material certifications, welding procedures, and inspection records as applicable to the piping systems.
Responsibilities Include:
Have an in-depth understanding of ASME piping codes and other relevant standards and codes.
Be proficient in various inspection techniques such as visual examination, radiographic examination, ultrasonic examination, magnetic particle examination, and dye penetrant examination.
Be familiar with welding processes, welding qualifications, and fabrication methods used in piping systems.
Have knowledge of materials used in piping systems, including metals, alloys, and non-metallic materials, and their properties.
Can interpret NDE results and understanding their possible effects for piping integrity.
Analyze information from inspections and tests to make informed decisions.
Mentor junior inspectors or other team members or organizations on ASME requirements and inspection techniques.
Minimum Requirements:
Level 4: 15 years of experience in relevant fields, such as piping inspection, quality control, or mechanical engineering and meets below Owners Inspector Qualifications.
Level 5: 20 years of experience in relevant fields, such as piping inspection, quality control, or mechanical engineering and meets below Owners Inspector Qualifications.
Owner’s Inspector qualification requirements:
o 10 years piping experience, or
o CWI and 5 years piping experience, or
o PE and 5 years piping experience
Hands-on experience inspecting piping systems observing ASME and other relevant codes and standards.
Experience with welding processes and piping fabrication methods, including familiarity with welding procedures and qualifications.
Nondestructive Examination (NDE): Practical experience with various NDE techniques such as radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, and dye penetrant testing.
Able to obtain and maintain ASNT SNT-TC-1A Visual Testing Level II
Preferred Experience:
Previously or currently certified as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector following AWS QC-1
Experience providing training and mentorship to junior inspectors or other team members on ASME requirements and inspection techniques.
Experience working closely with engineers, contractors, and other partners to ensure that all aspects of the piping system meet code requirements.
A degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field may reduce the experience required if deemed applicable.
Job Information:
The pay range for this position is: Level #4 ($91,008 – $186,588 ) / Level #5 ($109,260 – $223,908 ). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
