The Opportunity

Join BAE Systems as a Structural Engineer to be part of a diverse and enthusiastic team who solve some of the worlds most complex technical challenges and directly support the nation s security! The Role will primarily support the Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Program replacing the aging Minuteman III (MMIII) ICBM, and upgrades on critical ammunition plant infrastructure with our Ordinance Team. These projects represents billions of dollars in work at 100 s of new construction and facility renovation projects that includes planning, design, analysis, construction, and maintenance. The position will be based at Hill AFB, Utah with opportunity for travel to sites as needed.

Our team is on the cutting edge of some of the newest digital engineering tools and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to meet existing warfighter requirements. As part of these contracts, BAE Systems provides Advisory and Assistance Services in the areas of engineering, logistics, management, scientific analysis, and other subject matter expertise to augment and optimize management of these critical programs.

The Role

The Structural Engineer performs one or more of the following functions:

Perform project engineering as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan, design, construct, and sustain facilities and supporting infrastructure

Provide recommendations on construction materials and methods, create engineering estimates, write specifications and scopes of work, create and supervise the preparation/validation of structural and architectural drawings, control cost, and manage work to meet project schedules

Perform structural design and analysis for steel buildings, reinforced concrete buildings and other structures, pipe supports, and foundation systems.

May conduct inspections of existing facilities such as buildings, tank farms, roads, railroads, pipe bridges, and pipelines to determine the integrity and safety of the structure

Make recommendations concerning any needed modifications or repairs

Determine root cause of structural or system failures and recommend corrective action

Oversee mapping and surveying functions which involve layout of facilities and maintenance of records of site plans, above and below ground structures, and above-ground and underground utilities

Provide technical oversight during construction including shop drawing review and approval, ensure construction is in accordance with plans, specifications, and good construction practices

Consider safety in all aspects of design and construction

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering

7 yrs technical experience 5yrs with MS) in industrial design and construction, with an emphasis in structural engineering

Working knowledge of CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit) for efficient production of engineering work

Proficient in Analysis and using Analysis Tools (STAAD/RAM structural Systems, RAM Elements or RISA 3D)

Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC

Ability to direct design teams and external design firms, review and approve design packages from equipment suppliers and design firms providing constructability input.

Capable of creating required engineering documentation using Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Access.

Must be able to obtain Secret (or higher) security clearance

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Professional Engineer License

Skilled in principles of project management

Experience in the design and construction of chemical facilities that involve the use of acids and solvents in the production of energetic materials

Assessment of existing Concrete and rehabilitation and repair

Active Secret clearance, Ability to obtain Top Secret

Facility Management, Construction Management or Construction Experience

Familiarity with Agile Mindset and continuous process improvement

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Salary Min $91,980 – Max $156,330

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $91980 – $156330

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
