The primary function of the Utility Worker in Distribution is to perform water services and repairs in the water division of Public Works. They participate in the Towns education and training programs as well as in on-the-job training programs. Assist with a variety of tasks involved in but not limited to the maintenance, installation and repair the waters distribution systems water mains, service connections, fire hydrants and valves.

Candidates for a Utility Worker I must possess the following requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Up to 1 year of experience in a public sector water system or other mechanical or manufacturing equipment maintenance.
Permit for a Class A Arizona Commercial Drivers License with Tanker Endorsement at the time of hire
Must possess ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution Certification within one year of hire
On-Call Rotation is a Requirement of this position
Pay Range for a Utility Worker I: $19.85- $27.79
Candidates for a Utility Worker II must possess the following requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Vocational or technical training in water distribution and related equipment operation, or a closely related field
1 year of experience in Private or Public Sector Water Distribution System to include related equipment maintenance, installation and repair
Must possess a class A Arizona Commercial Drivers License with a tanker endorsement at the time of hire or promotion
Vocational or technical training in water distribution and related equipment operation, or a closely related field is desired but not require
Must Possess ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution Certification at the time of hire or promotion
On-Call Rotation is a Requirement of this position
Pay Range of a Utility Worker II: $23.20 – $33.64
Please note, depending on experience and certification/s a candidate may be brought in as a Utility Worker II. The salary range listed in the posting is the minimum of the range for a Utility Worker I and the maximum of the range for a Utility Worker II, the pay range for each position is listed after each positions requirements above. This a driving position and a motor vehicle report will be run as part of our pre-employment process.
This recruitment will run through December 9, 2024, with applications reviewed every two weeks starting Tuesday, October 15, 2024., then every other Tuesday through the posting close date.
This position is an At-Will position, FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation.

KNOWLEDGE OF :
Knowledge of water distribution system.
Working knowledge of tools used for maintenance and repair.
General procedures for installing, maintaining and repairing underground water infrastructure.
Workplace safety hazards, procedures and equipment used when working on or near underground utility lines.
SKILLS IN :
Mechanical ability to repair components of the water system.
Skill in using tools and equipment required in the installation, maintenance and repair of a water distribution system.
Ability to follow oral instructions and read, comprehend and interpret written materials such as operational/technical manuals, Material Safety Data Sheets, system maps and diagrams.
Operating a personal computer and related software to demonstrate proficiency to complete work orders, documents, spreadsheets, emails and timesheets.
Capacity to work in small, cramped spaces, such as trenches to repair water mains or service connections using only normal protective equipment and work in a variety of weather conditions.
