Help Universal Destinations and Experiences learn about and improve the experiences of our guests. The Consumer Insights Universal Studios Hollywood Field Team plays a key role in collecting foundational information used to make business critical information about our guests: where they’re from, why they’re here, and what they love (and don’t) about their experiences with us. As Manager of Field Research at Universal Studios Hollywood, you will work closely with Senior Field Leadership to supervise, develop, and coach field interviewers, monitor and enhance data quality, and coordinate the successful day-to-day execution of research.

Under the direction of the Senior Field Manager, directly supervise and develop field interviewers, create and coordinate team-wide coaching, training, and growth opportunities, assist in research project coordination and management, oversee data quality assurance and equipment needs, and coordinate the successful day-to-day execution of research.

 

Supervision and Development:  Formal supervision, evaluation, and management of Field Interviewers to foster their growth and development while ensuring team member adherence to data collection protocols, quotas, and rigorous research standards. Assist in supporting and coaching Supervisors and SFIs as part of their continual growth and development.

Shift Management: Manage day-to-day implementation of interview shifts, including replacement and/or reallocation of resources due to unforeseen circumstances, employee breaks, and last minute labor shortages to maximize efficiencies, prioritize deliverables, and maintain data integrity.

Training and Development: Lead efforts to curate training and development tools, working with USH and bicoastal partners to compile a set of coaching strategies, motivational techniques, and team-building approaches. In conjunction with senior leadership, develop and coordinate training and learning sessions to build skills for all members of the Field team and provide opportunities for growth. Key contributor in training of all Team Members for all research projects. Monitor the progress of each Team Member through field observation and collaboration with other leadership team members on approaches for improvement.

Research Project Coordination: Works collaboratively with the Senior Field Management Team to develop efficient, feasible, cost-effective strategies to execute research projects, while also maintaining high research standards and data integrity. Provide recommendations for mid and long-range scheduling. Point person in coordinating checks of survey logic and communicating back to analyst partners.

Monitor Data Quality and Standards: Compile and monitor routine data quality reports to ensure compliance with departmental standards and to identify coaching and development opportunities. Review leadership weekly bias report feedback and progress notes to identify any anomalies and document any patterns for leadership discussion. Conduct monthly reviews of bias reports by project/TM to identify issues that may not be apparent in weekly review.

Oversee Equipment and Technology Needs: Troubleshoot, resolve, and monitor daily technology concerns involving safety or maintenance. Solicit information from Field TMs to ensure usability considerations factor into need assessments. Oversee equipment inventory tracking and coordinate testing of new technology.  Responsible for liaising with UDX Qual and Systems Team on device needs, troubleshooting, and data sharing protocols.

Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university preferred in Marketing Research, Business Administration, or Social Science field.

8 Years: supervisory experience required. Supervisory experience in a theme park and/or market research context preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated ability to lead or supervisor teams of 10 or more, and manage stressful and unexpected situations

Solution-based orientation and ability to critically analyze and resolve issues in real time

Ability to provide development, coaching, and constructive feedback using multiple modalities to respond to and accommodate diverse learning and feedback styles.

Demonstrated experience conducting structured surveys, recruiting participants, screening subjects or other relevant research activities

Strong interpersonal communication skills; experience approaching and engaging strangers a plus

Ability to engage with and manage the needs of multiple stakeholders, build rapport, deescalate situations, and conduct oneself professionally

Demonstrated ability to strictly adhere to protocols and guidelines and to observe and document behaviors of a team

Strong organizational and time management skills

Integrity, honesty, and a commitment to the quality, reliability, and confidentiality of data

Flexibility to shift between tasks, manage multiple tasks

Ability to accurately and legibly document information

Proficiency operating tablets, laptops, smart phones, and iPads; experience/knowledge using Qualtrics a plus

Proficiency using Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Proficiency reading, typing, speaking, and understanding English

 

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
