Location/Division Specific Information

The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a diverse mix of analytical instruments and associated services to a broad range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Energy, Mining, Life Science Manufacturing and Recycling, to name a few. Its instruments are deployed in the field and on the line, in challenging environments where customers put a premium on robustness, reliability and ease of use. They allow them to make decisions where they operate and streamline their businesses. CAD is a complex division with a global footprint, broad product portfolio and diverse customer base.

Discover Impactful Work:

The QA Engineer will serve as the quality lead for the Scotts Valley site, providing hands-on QA/QC support to ensure full compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This customer-facing role will play a crucial part in facilitating root cause investigations, reducing scrap, and leading supplier quality. This role will also be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System. The QA Engineer will report to the Senior Quality Manager of Strategic Programs.

A day in the Life:

Lead site QA/QC processes to support Scotts Valley Operations

Lead Product Inspection and Non-conformance Management Processes

Facilitate root cause investigations with cross functional team and communicate findings with internal and external customers.

Responsible for Customer Complaint Investigation and driving CAPA actions with intensity to ensure timely closure.

Conduct internal and supplier/vendor audits as needed and serve as an authorized representative to host external audits.

Ensure that standard operating procedures and forms are current, accurate and properly applied

Trending and Reporting Metrics data for site, business unit and divisional reporting.

Support supplier qualification, compilation of scorecards and quarterly business reviews.

Use Thermo Fisher Scientifics PPI Business System to drive efficiency and continuous improvement across the Quality function.

Keys to Success:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in technical/scientific or related field, e.g. engineering, chemistry, biology, or mathematics.

Experience

2 years of hands-on experience in the Quality Engineering field

Experience facilitating Root Cause Analysis using tools such as Fishbone Analysis, 5-why Analysis etc.

Experience with implementation of QMS programs including Nonconformance Management, CAPAs, Customer Complaints and Audits

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of ISO 9001 standard required

Solid understanding on the standard suite of quality tools, such as 8Ds, A3, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Customer Complaints, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred

Initiative and self-direction in planning, organizing, documenting and solving problems.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $83,300.00–$111,100.00.
