About the Position: THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT AMCOM, US ARMY TMDE ACTIVITY, TMDE SUPPORT–REGION EAST, NEW JERSEY TSC, FT. DIX, NJ Responsibilities Collect, reduce, display, analyze data, and provide metrology information for a wide variety of general purpose test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Assist and advise users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) in support of their mission. Prepare reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provides technical information used in the decision-making process for the development of documents used for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) certification. Apply a practical knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and practices to repair test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Implement, adapt, modify and periodically develop technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform repairs incidental to calibration as required by equipment specifications; interpret simple technical procedures and schematics to adapt them to calibration assignments; and diagnose or repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission. Education Additional Information Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment NTE one year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
