Tenured Professor and Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Trials Data Coordination

The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health and Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor are seeking a tenured Professor in the Department of Epidemiology to serve in the role of Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Trials Data Coordination. The ideal candidate requires a PhD in Epidemiology and at least ten years of experience in data management and multicenter clinical trial design, management, and analysis. The position involves facilitating quality clinical trials by providing comprehensive and innovative trial design, data management, and project management services. The candidate for this role will be expected to provide the following guidance to principal investigators seeking to and engaging in clinical trials:
Study Design Assistance:Developing Study Hypotheses and Outcomes. Optimizing study design using frequentist and Bayesian approaches. Implementing innovative study designs, including Bayesian and fully Bayesian adaptive designs. Creating new study designs for maximum efficiency.
Statistical Methods & Analysis:Applying unique statistical methods tailored to ongoing studies. Drafting statistical analysis plans SAPs. Generating reports for sponsors and government agencies. Conducting interim analyses and preparing Data Safety Monitoring Board DSMB reports.
Data Capture and Management:Coordinating the utilization of a Comprehensive Research Information System and Clinical Information Management System. Oversight of the efficient entering and managing data in compliance with federal reporting standards. Supporting participant recruitment, study monitoring, protocol management, and query management. Ensuring data integrity and collaboration across research centers and cooperative groups.
Foster the use of innovative statistical methods for the design and implementation of multicenter clinical trials.
Provide educational opportunities to students and researchers regarding the design and analysis of multicenter clinical trials through both formal and informal venues.
