JOB TITLE:      Linesman

LOCATION:     Philadelphia, PA, and various NHL arenas

DUTIES: Perform officiating duties as a major league hockey linesman officiating exclusively the National Hockey League (NHL) games; administer, apply and enforce the NHL game rules as contained in the NHL Official Rule Book and interpretations thereof; assess penalties, defuse heated situations, and maintain continuous progression of the game consistent with the NHL official rules; ensure that all players and coaches respect and abide by the rulings; maintain correct positioning and react quickly to game situations that arise on the ice; attend training sessions and participate in athletic events; receive instructions from sports staff or coaches prior to events; assess performance following games and make adjustments to improve performance; provide leadership to teams, and represent the NHL in media contacts or other speaking or charity events; maintain optimum physical fitness levels by training regularly, following nutritional plans, seeking advice from health professionals, and being attentive to overall health; travel to national and international NHL hockey arenas.

REQUIREMENTS: Requires High school diploma or foreign equivalent education, and 5 years of total experience as a Linesman or Referee officiating and/or playing major junior and/or minor professional ice hockey. Experience therein to include one hockey season of experience officiating professional ice hockey. Also requires frequent national and international travel to various locations. Will be required to reside within one hour commuting distance of an NHL city of the employers choosing.
