JOB OVERVIEW

MartinFed has an opening for an Administrative Assistant to join our team of talented and diverse individuals. This role will directly support the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (ATF)s Forensic Science Laboratory in Beltsville, MD.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Proofread documents for accuracy, typographical errors and format IAW office guidelines

Prepare and format a variety of correspondence, including congressional letters, memoranda, surveys, talking points, reports, speeches, budget documents, and notices for publication to the Federal Register.

Provides technical and administrative support to the lab/lab personnel in addition to secretarial duties (filing, taking phone calls, scheduling appointments, making travel arrangements).

Type correspondence, reports, records, and technical papers. These may include tables, charts, graphs, and presentations as well as various Government forms such as requisition forms, travel authorizations, and travel expense vouchers.

Makes travel arrangements, coordinates meetings, meeting agenda, and scheduling of logistics required to support office staff and is able to perform Internet-based research.

This role requires independent work 70% of the time.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or G.E.D

Additionally, the individual should have a minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience in an office environment OR at least an Associates Degree in a related field.

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) experience is required to prepare documents, listings, tables, briefings, and worksheets.

Microsoft Office (Access, Project, Vizio) experience is desirable.

Experience exercising independent judgment in resolving administrative problems.

Experience exchanging non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate, requiring good oral and written communication skills.

Experience exhibiting industry-accepted customer service practices and professional acumen in response to daily tasks, due dates, and requests for information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

This is full-time on-site position at the ATF Fire Research Laboratory and will consist of a general office environment.

The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers and books.

Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment.
