Research Assistant

We are seeking a Research Assistant . The position involves performing immunological assays and cell biology experiments. Our lab focuses on vascular immunology studies to dissect the immuno-regulatory mechanisms in 1) pulmonary arterial hypertension and 2) skin wound healing, with a goal to fully elucidate the role of inflammation in abnormal vascular growth and remodeling.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Performance of laboratory tests and/or experiments.
Culture human cells including vascular cells such as endothelial and smooth muscle cells, and immune cells such as THP-1 and HL-60 cell lines, etc.
Perform immunology-related experiments and analyses of flow cytometry, western blotting, ELISA, PCR and immunohistochemistry.
Analyze vascular remodeling by measuring vessel thickness through microscopy.
Conduct research by completing library and Internet searches; planning and conducting experiments and tests; organizing and analyzing findings; completing experiment logs and records; developing conclusions; setting-up and operating equipment.
Collaborate with other scientists by exchanging findings, observations, and opinions, presenting and discussing test and experiment findings at scientific review meetings.
Maintain procedure integrity by adhering to policies, procedures, and protocols.
Maintain safe and healthy lab environment by following organization standards and legal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science (MS) Degree.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 – $30.30 HRLY ($11,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
