LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Location: Baltimore, MD. Teleworking eligible.
Shift: Sunday – Thursday
Job Description:
The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute on Aging. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverable through performance of support services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Prepares and assists patients for examinations.
– Coordinate with researchers and staff to schedule specialized procedures and diagnostic exams.
– Assists researchers or medical staff perform testing and exams and records basic physiological data.
– Administer prescribed medications orally or intravenously to patients as directed by researcher or medical staff.
– Maintains safe, orderly and clean clinical or treatment facility environment.
– Assist researchers and medical staff test equipment to ensure proper working order and coordinate maintenance as necessary.
– Schedules and prepares patients for appointments.
– Participate in weekly conference sessions where participants data are evaluated to determine participants status.
– Participates in the development of diagnostic interviews with the principal investigator.
– Administers diagnostic interviews and prepares summaries in support of research protocols.
– Administers clinical interviews either in person or by telephone using clinician-developed research rating scales.
– Prepares patients for examinations and assists staff with specialized procedures and diagnostic exams.
– Administers oral and intravenous medications and chart in the medical record.
– Work with researchers and medical staff on transport of patients, specimens, equipment and supplies, generating numeric tracking
labels for samples prior to submission
– Perform basic procedures, such as collecting and processing specimens, performing venipuncture, obtaining EKGs, performing IV
insertion and checking vital signs.
– Observe and ensure the safety of human subjects while procedures are being performed and bring all patient concerns and issues to
researchers or medical staff.
– Assist physicians during examinations and procedures and answer patient calls for help.
– Assists patients and reinforces instructions regarding self management.
– Assist patients and research participants with activities of daily living as needed.
– Clean and sanitize patient environments and prepare patients for testing and medical procedures.
– Reinforce policies and procedures to research participants as directed by researchers or medical staff to ensure procedural
effectiveness.
– Assist research participants or other health care team members with prescribed interventions as directed by research or medical staff.
– Provide patients clear documentation and directions for continuity of self-managed portions of treatment and follow on activities or
testing per the research protocol and medical procedures.
– Perform basic procedures; collect and process specimens; perform venipuncture; obtain EKGs; perform IV insertion; check vital signs.
– Conduct a variety of tests and procedures of a technical nature, including, but not limited to, Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry
(DEXA), bone density scans, Holter Monitor, electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG). Anthropometric Measurements, Hearing, Visual Acuity
and 24-hour urine Collections and Measurements.
– Receive Nursing report and give report to assigned RN upon end of shift and as needed throughout the day.
– Adheres to the rights of medication administration and guidelines.
– Obtain data and accurately document pertinent patient information
– Assist patients/participants with activities of daily living as needed.
– Work with staff on transport of patients, specimens, equipment and supplies.
– Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
– Communicate changes in patients condition to staff.
– Report actual and potential problems concerning patients, families and staff.
– Respond to questions from patients, families and significant others or refer to appropriate personnel.

pertinent patient information; assist with activities of daily living; transport – Ad-Hoc
– Work products and documents related to patients, specimens, equipment and supplies – Ad-Hoc
– Work products and documents to communicating changes in patients condition; report actual and potential problems; comply with quality assurance procedures and medical policies. – Ad-Hoc
– Work products and documents related to following safety management PPs in the use of equipment and supplies; assist with new staff orientation. – Ad-Hoc
– Other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
– Maryland LPN License
– Nurse Certificate
– Must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience.
– Must have experience in a clinical or healthcare setting and experience performing medical examinations.
– Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
– Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
– Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds, reach above shoulder level, have correctable near vision, distinguish basic colors, have depth perception, and use both hands.
– Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
