Job Title: Project Engineer – Materials
Job Description
The materials engineer will improve plant materials, processes, and equipment to keep our manufacturing facility current and efficient. This role involves developing and applying advanced theories, methods, and research techniques to solve complex technical problems with new technologies. The materials engineer will analyze, evaluate, and plan methods to solve technical problems. Key responsibilities include optimizing material formulations and components for safety, quality, cost, and delivery improvements, managing formulation and raw material change processes, and maintaining material formulations and operating procedures. The role also involves providing technical support to production teams, managing new product and process implementation, initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects, conducting feasibility studies, and participating in cost reduction initiatives.
Hard Skills
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program (Chemical, Materials, or Materials Science Engineering preferred)
4 years materials engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience running material trials in a production environment
Polymer, Plastics, or Compound molding experience
Material project management (managing suppliers, material validation, and qualification)
Soft Skills
Passion for working in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment
Ability to drive continuous improvement to processes and equipment
Willingness to work on the manufacturing floor for the majority of the day
