Position: Teacher – Intervention Specialist at Alliance Intervention School

Employment Status: Regular/Full-Time – 185 days per year
                               This position does include Health Benefits

Reports To: Building Principal Description:

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. To teach according to the provided courses of study

Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university

2. Masters Degree in related area Preferred

3. Appropriate State of Ohio certifications/license in the appropriate grade level

4. Prior teaching experience is preferable

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.

2. Skills that foster and facilitate learning and classroom management

3. Educational pedagogy

4. Student/teacher relationship

5. Professionalism

6. Knowledge of curriculum and concepts.

7. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.

8. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

9. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.

10. Ability to organize and coordinate work.

11. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.

12. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.

13. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure safety of students

2. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners

3. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information

Attend meetings, in-services and/or training programs as required per negotiated agreement and Superintendent or designee

Refer students suspected of learning difficulties to the intervention assistance team

Observe ethics of the teaching profession

Follow/support/carry out the district and building mission statement

Refer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to Principal and/or Guidance Counselor

Develop and administers school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.

Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.

Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction

Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students
