Medical Assistant OB/GYN

Squirrel Hill Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is seeking a Medical Assistant for the OB/GYN team.
The Medical Assistant must be able to travel to all locations for scheduled and unscheduled coverage as directed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greets patients and escorts from waiting area to exam room.
Performs patient preparation including, but not limited to: blood pressure readings, weights, heights, temperatures, PHQ2 screening, medication and allergy history collection, last menstrual period, etc., and records all such information accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a timely manner.
At the direction of the clinicians or by standing order, collects specimens and performs laboratory testing using the protocols set forth in the Laboratory Procedural Manual or by Quest Laboratories.
At the direction of the clinicians, assists with procedures including, but not limited to: IUD & Nexplanon insertion/removal, colposcopy, biopsies, tissue collection & labeling, PAP smear, annual GYN exams etc.,
At the direction of the clinicians, performs diagnostic and procedural testing using the protocols set forth in the Equipment Manual.
Performs calibration of equipment, autoclave cleanings and quality controls using the protocols set forth in the Equipment Manual.
At the direction of the clinicians, follows SHHC procedures for administering vaccines to the appropriate candidates.
Promptly answers incoming calls from physician’s offices, hospitals, emergency rooms, nursing homes and other emergent entities and promptly gathers information ensuring direct notification of clinician and/or appropriate member of the Care Team.
Coordinates prescription refills.
Communicates clearly with front office medical receptionists to ensure smooth patient flow throughout center.
Receives, documents and directs lab results to appropriate clinician.
Ensures that all back areas and exam rooms are kept professional, stocked, clean, tidy and well organized at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All CDC recommended vaccinations, including annual Covid and Flu, required.
1-year Medical Assistant experience (certificate preferred).
OB/GYN experience preferred.
Ability to perform phlebotomy and specimen collection(s).
PA driver’s license, willingness and ability to commute independently to all satellite and office sites.
Medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding knowledge preferred.
CPR certified.
Second language preferred.
