Location Description The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles n Bits® and 9Lives®. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. With so much to do and see, Bloomsburg is a great place to live, work and play! Responsibilities Overview: To Make Better Happen, we are hiring a MRO Buyer for our Bllomsburg plant. The MRO Buyer partners with maintenance and operations teams to provide materials for the installation and repair of equipment and helps support the CMMS systems that control maintenance work and inventory. The MRO Buyer is responsible for the procurement, inventory control and distribution of all parts and supplies related to equipment maintenance and repair for the Bloomsburg Plant. Core responsibilities include purchasing parts and materials, inventory management and control, creating and executing purchase orders, budget and spend control, as well as to support food safety and quality practices as required through SQF. The MRO Buyer is responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, food safety, quality and environmental practices. The MRO Buyer uses problem-solving skills daily. The MRO Buyer will report to the MRO Supervisor. Working location: This role is on-site in the Bloomsburg plant. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Order routine/emergency replacement parts and supplies and expedite delivery. Plan, organize and supervise the setting up and maintenance of supplies purchasing and inventory system. Provide assistance with parts and supplies specifying and purchasing to all departments and levels. Determine ideal inventory levels to insure production and protect long lead items. Negotiate prices and expedite delivery of replacement parts; investigate better products, pricing or services. Provide system support for Computerized Maintenance Inventory Management System. Provide parts and supplies consulting and specifying services to customers throughout the company. Support corporate sourcing partnership models to drive cost savings initiatives. Purchase and inventory plant safety supplies specified by Safety Department/Safety Committees and certain selected supplies for production and quality departments. Maintain computerized Purchasing/Receiving system for MRO and Engineering plant items and oversee daily operations of the purchase order. Participate in weekly rotation for after-hours buyer coverage. Complete projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: A minimum of 2 years post high school education in maintenance and/or purchasing OR equivalent work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience Knowledge of basic engineering, electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics and fabrication principles. Familiarity with computerized inventory systems and purchasing. Minimum of 2 years of experience in plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment, including 1 year purchasing experience preferred. Other Characteristics Strong communication skills. Ability to work closely with peers and internal customers to share responsibility and solve problems. Understanding of mechanical and electrical operation of production equipment and use of maintenance and diagnostic tools. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language Able to work in a variety of environments (Office, warehouse and production) and able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver heavier objects using team lift or mechanical assistance. Work effectively with corporate sourcing and corporate maintenance to develop, critique and maintain purchasing and MRO corporate standards and policies. Significant cross plant communication required with operations partners and other plant buyers to support and assist in inventory and spare parts issues that occur.
