Job Description
The scope of responsibility for this position is to support all functional activities related to the procurement of materials and services utilized in the production of manufacturing systems and related equipment. This includes global sourcing, purchasing, and inbound logistics, as well as negotiation of all commercial Terms & Conditions related to the respective procurement transactions.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all resources within the Procurement Department to ensure the provision of necessary materials and services for Manufacturing and Service functions, supporting new projects and field service operations.
Establish and maintain a global supplier network to secure materials at the best combination of cost, lead time, and quality, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality control documentation, budgeted costs, and project delivery schedules.
Assist Product Management and Project Management by providing cost and lead time quotations for project proposals, and offer procurement strategy input to customers to meet operational or contractual requirements.
Lead process improvement initiatives in procurement, integrating Best Practices to achieve measurable improvements in costs, lead times, and product quality. Develop and implement short and long-term strategies and operational plans, and quantify/report results.
Foster functional leadership within the Procurement Department, enabling employees to work with greater autonomy in daily and strategic activities. Provide ongoing training and development to create a flexible and capable workforce that can adapt to the company’s and global market needs.
Ensure compliance with and enforcement of all company policies (Safety, Human Resources, IT, etc.). Conduct employee training to communicate and understand new or updated policies.
Participate in internal committees, review teams, or work groups focused on operational or administrative process creation, review, or improvement, including areas like Plant Safety, ERP System (Syteline), Process Review Board, and Strategic Initiatives Program.
Conduct annual employee reviews to assess goal achievement, provide performance feedback, and identify areas for improvement or additional training. Conduct more frequent reviews for new or developing employees as needed.
Perform other assigned tasks.
Travel as required.
Actively identify and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering), with an advanced degree (Business, Management, or related technical discipline) preferred.
Consideration will be given to individuals who may not have the specified depth of educational background but have extensive operational experience deemed to satisfy the overall requirements of the position.
Minimum of (10) years prior experience in a global procurement-related position with at least (5) years in a management role, preferably involving highly engineered technical products.
The ideal candidate would have a background in the biotech or chemical industry or experience with custom-designed process equipment of a similar scale and complexity.
Certification in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma is highly desirable.
Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) is a plus.
