Research & Development Co-op Overview:
J&J R&D encompasses the development of sophisticated materials, process improvements, risk management and mechanical testing through the development process across all sectors including Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Consumer and Corporate/Enterprise.

Life as an R&D Co-op:
The R&D Co-op program provides each student with real-life hands-on experience, coaching and mentoring, networking opportunities, as well as the opportunity to meet people from various schools throughout the country. Each Co-op will be assigned to a single function with a specific project for the 6-month term.
The typical Co-op term is from Jan 2025 Jun 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
The TDS-API Process Development organization is seeking a candidate interested in Gene Therapy process development. Adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors are the primary gene therapy platform for a variety of human diseases. Leading a collaborative project to develop novel and highly advanced high throughput methods for rapid analysis of gene therapies.
Analyze and interpret experimental results using analytical and statistical techniques. Actively participate in weekly meetings with internal and external collaborators.
Participate in technical discussions on design of experiments to fill gaps in knowledge.
Maintain a laboratory notebook and other technical documents according to required guidelines.
Provide other project support as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education:
Biology, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and related majors are preferred.
Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of a co-op assignment pursuing a Bachelors or equivalent experience, Masters, or PhD degree or equivalent experience. For students pursuing their Bachelors degree or equivalent experience, Juniors or Seniors are preferred.
Minimum GPA of 2.8 is required.
Completion of Undergraduate Freshmen year at an accredited University is required.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
Candidate must have previous experience with liquid chromatography
Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills is required
Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills are preferred
Ability to balance multiple projects and initiatives while performing results
Must be a self-starter works independently while supplying to the team goals
Proven leadership/participation with campus programs and/or community service activities is desired
Preferred:
Students with basic laboratory skills and experience in research, experimental design & execution, and data analysis preferred.
