Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Duties
Position Responsibilities: The Phlebotomist will perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate workspaces. The role involves updating patient information and collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures. The candidate will properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal samples, in a clear and courteous manner. They will demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles, fully understand all physician orders, and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Additionally, the Phlebotomist I will label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders, ensuring all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% accurate. They will package specimens for transport, store samples at required temperatures, and follow specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity. The candidate must understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, and answer telephone calls, providing laboratory results as needed.
