Amergis Staffing is currently seeking highly skilled Geriatric Nursing Aides (GNA) for Long Term Care assignments in Columbia, MD .

Position Details:

· Contract Length: 4 Weeks (Extensions Available)

· Number of Openings: 6

· Shift Length: 5×8 hour shifts per week, 40 hrs/week

· Start Date: ASAP

· Schedule: 3p-11p

Must have GNA license in state of Maryland

The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) performs direct patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Geriatric Nursing Assistant performs a variety of individualized patient care activities including bathing, dressing, feeding and transporting as well as related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comforts of the geriatric patient population.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains patient confidentiality of all residents

Assists residents with activities of daily living and feeding

Performs transfers and lifts per facility protocol

Completes timely and thorough documentation in the facility EMR charting system

Provides support and companionship to patients

Assists residents with use of assistive devices

Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions

Notifies the supervising nurse of any abnormal findings or conditions

Cleans and organizes patient rooms

Assists with putting away residents laundry and belongings

Assists nurse with admission and discharge/s to unit

Prepares patients for appointments or transfers

Minimum Requirements:

Active CNA with Geriatric Certification, required

Experience with memory care patients, preferred

Prefer one year of geriatric nursing assistant experience as a certified nursing assistant within the last three years.

Graduate from certified nursing assistant program with subsequent documentation as a certified nursing assistant per state requirements with proof of verification as being an active certification and having the ability to be work with geriatrics per state requirements. • Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of clerical functions.

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable

Current CPR

TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
