Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM), Medicare Plan Payment Group (MPPG) Front Office. As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-14, you will serve as a liaison on administrative/personnel activities, and operating policies. Responsibilities Plan and coordinates projects and tasks within MPPG and with other CM and CMS staff on activities and issues related to Medicare Advantage and Part D payment policy and operations, including managing MPPG front office operations. Managing all administrative/front office operations such as managing schedules, developing and maintaining databases and workload trackers, correspondence, compliance with record keeping, training and travel requirements, front office budget, etc. Resolve complex payment policy and administrative problems by identifying appropriate contacts, developing and maintaining systems, databases and files, and finding new information sources. Independently analyzes policies, processes and procedures; evaluates the effectiveness of existing and new policies and reviews legislative initiatives for potential impact on CMS programs. In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Analyzing and implementing Medicare Plan Payment Group (MPPG) programs and policies to advise and support management; AND 2) Coordinating of special initiatives and/or projects across the organization to ensure that information is aligned with strategic goals; AND 3) Developing documents (i.e. briefing papers, analytical reports, standard operating procedures, guidelines, issue papers, administrative management reports, etc.) to ensure compliance with quality standards; AND 4) Recommending administrative initiatives to senior management or key stakeholders. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Supervisory positions must report a minimum 2 times per week and non-Supervisory positions must report a minimum of 2 times per pay period.
