Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position serves as an OPS Dental Hyginist on Volusia Countys School Based Sealant Program operating in Lake County .

This position offers a fun, exciting, and rewarding work enviornment that never gets boring. If you are a hygienist who wants something more than working 8 to 5, waiting for the Dentist to come check your patient, and watching the clock so you do not run over into the next appointment, you will love working on our dental outreach program. You will be an instrumental part of breaking down barriers that keep some children from recieving much needed dental care.

This position works under the general supervision of the Public Health Services Manager- B SES in the d ental outreach program and provides professional support and technical assistance to staff, community agencies and the general public. This position will be assigned to the School Based Sealant Program working in the community, educating, and providing services for children throughout Lake County. This position will provide education to community agencies and the public through community events and health fairs in accordance with the mission and vision of the dental program and the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County.

The school based sealant program provides oral health edication and preventative dental services for students at elementary schools through out Lake county. This posotion requires travel between these work sites.

If you have been licensed to practice dental hygiene in any state for at least 10 years, you may be able to obtain a Limited Dental Hygiene license in Florida and practice dental hygiene for the Florida Department of Health.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to provide dental assesments

Ability to lift 30lbs or more

Ability to complete and maintain patients medical records

Ability to provide instruction/education to patients in preventative oral/dental health techniques

Qualifications:

Minimum –

Must have ability to provide dental assesments

Must be able to work well with children

Must have a valid drivers license

Must have time management skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred –

Experience working with children

Experience placing and evaluating dental sealants

Computer knowledge (Eaglesoft, HMS)

Communicate effectively with people of different cultural and educational backgrounds

Bi-lingual Spanish/English
