As the Maintenance Supervisor for our 17th Street Regional Complex, Fruitville Park, and Sarasota BMX you will oversee and coordinate all maintenance staff and activities to ensure smooth and efficient operation. The main function for this role is planning and oversight of daily maintenance, projects, and corrective maintenance activities for athletic turf, common grounds, and related amenities. Your key responsibilities include safety, contractors, equipment, and oversight of all maintenance staff at the sites to ensure infrastructure maintenance and event support. You will collaborate with Parks Internal Operations division on maintenance best practices and renovations to ensure athletic fields and facilities are kept in excellent condition, maintaining structural and aesthetic integrity. General Facility Maintenance:

Develop maintenance programs in coordination with the 17th Street Regional Complex Manager, Parks Internal Operations staff, and BMX track staff.

County staff and volunteer management, supervision, and leadership.

Plan, coordinate, supervise schedules, and train staff in proper turf and field maintenance practices, procedures, general upkeep, and maintenance of facilities at the sites.

Ensure the structural and aesthetic integrity of all athletic fields, BMX track, and the facilities at the sites.

Implement natural and artificial sports turf maintenance programs.

Apply professional turf grass standards to determine the effectiveness of the maintenance program and operation.

Monitor athletic fields, BMX track, and facilities at the sites to ensure compliance with established maintenance rules, regulations, safety standards, methods, guidelines, and procedures.

Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections of athletic fields and facilities at the sites.

Supervise the fertilization and appropriate applications of herbicides and insecticides in accordance with all Federal, State, and County regulations.

Monitor the performance of independent contractors and vendors.

Direct staff in the performance of annual renovation projects.

Supervise and coordinate routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of all areas within the facilities, including playing fields, BMX track, dog park, playground, restrooms, parking lots, and common areas.

Facility & Event Operations:

Collaborate with the complex manager with the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards.

Coordinate maintenance and repair work to avoid conflicts and maximize usage of the facilities.

Ensure all necessary equipment and facilities are ready for tournaments and/or events.

Supervise the setup and teardown for tournaments and events.

Be prepared to address any maintenance emergencies during events, such as power outages, plumbing issues, or structural problems.

Assist with creating and managing shift schedules to ensure that maintenance coverage is adequate during both regular hours and tournaments and/or events.

Prepare reports; collect, analyze, and evaluate data and information and develop conclusions and recommendations thereon.

Maintain time and production records.

Order materials, supplies, and equipment.

Prepare work orders for the accomplishment of maintenance needs.

Assist in the preparation of annual maintenance budget, entering data into computer.

Participate in the hiring process, conducting performance reviews, and handling employee relations issues.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

Sunday – Saturday, 07:00 a.m. to 03:30 p.m.

Ability to work on weekdays, weekends, holidays, and/or evenings as special events or tournaments arise.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED -and- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in maintenance operations of athletic fields or sports complex.

-OR- Associates degree -and- Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance operations of athletic fields or sports complex.

One (1) year of supervisor experience.

-OR- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted at management discretion.

Valid Florida drivers license by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Specialized training and/or certification in irrigation, herbicide and pesticide application and/or turf management.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience with athletic tournaments and events.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Physical Demands: Employees in this position must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Starting Pay: $ 27.22 – $28.50, based upon experience.
