Job Summary and Qualifications
Under minimal supervision, the Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller and assists the Assistant Controller in the day to day operations of the Accounting Department. Applies generally accepted accounting principles and financial analysis in order to prepare financial and statistical reports and net revenue reports required by facility and/or Corporate. Must maintain a collaborative relationship with other accounting staff. Individual proceeds on his/her own initiative in compliance with hospital policies & procedures. Reconciles the more complex asset and liability accounts in the general ledger
Responsible for maintaining Fixed Asset program.
Responsible for all accounting entries associated with Fixed Assets.
Prepares many recording, recurring, reclassifying and accrual journal entries monthly to accurately record financial transactions.
Reconciles various Asset and Liability accounts on a monthly basis.
Assists facilitating the Chargemaster process. Provides support to the departments when charging issues are discovered.
Assists with activating, modifying, and inactivating all Chargemaster requests.
Assists with preparation of annual cost report work papers for Medicare.
Assist in preparing monthly contractual allowance accruals and exhibits.
Assist with monthly and quarterly Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) testing, and internal audits.
Assist with the annual preparation of the hospital operating budget.
Assist with Accounts Payable functions.
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Business of Finance Related Field, Masters Preferred
1-3 years of equivalent experience required
3-5 years of equivalent experience preferred
