Electrical Line Worker II/Right-of-Way Maintenance
The Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia is accepting applications for the position of Electrical Line Worker II/Right-of-way maintenance in the Electric Department. Under the direction of the Asst. Electrical Operations Manager, the employee performs skilled work. Constructs new power lines, performs hotline work, changes out existing poles, hooks up house services and transformers, installs meter bases, stakes new construction lines, and troubleshoots power failures. Repairs street, flood, and traffic lights and assists in maintaining department equipment and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and/or experience equivalent to:
– Graduation from a standard high school and the completion of line worker apprenticeship training.
– Some experience in difficult and responsible work at a journeyman level in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical systems and related equipment.
– Previous experience and training in the handling of high-tension wires are essential qualifications for this position (i.e. -experience in Line Worker I classification)
– At least 3 to 5 years of experience in hotline work.
– Possession of a valid drivers license as issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety
– Possession of a Commercial Drivers License Class A
SALARY RANGE: Based on experience.
