What Transportation contributes to Cardinal Health
The US Transportation Department is critical to Cardinal Health’s distribution operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods, and services ultimately impacting patient care. It plays a key role in supply chain management by coordinating the transport of finished products, ensuring delivers are on time, and providing support to operational projects. Transportation helps control costs through budgeting and negotiating favorable contracts with carriers. Cardinal Health continues to adopt sustainable transportation practices to reduce environmental impact.
The Transportation Performance & Procurement team is responsible for all commercial carrier activity throughout the supply chain within the Medical Segment at Cardinal Health. From a performance standpoint, they oversee all logistics supplier management, ensuring carriers are meeting KPI’s through corrective actions, hosting QBR’s and maintain strong relationships with the DC’s support team. From a Procurement standpoint, they ensure the carrier capacity is meeting the business demands, all while keeping in mind the cost and performance impact. They host RFPs, maintaining a strong understanding of both market intelligence and business requirements to ensure achieving best carrier and rates.
Responsibilities
Manage a medium size team managing performance and procurement of all modes, TL, LTL, IM, Parcel & Courier
Build, enable, and drive multi-year strategy for procurement utilizing market intelligence and understanding business needs
Leads the development of contracts and business rules to ensure carriers are adhering to service level expectations
Ensure the team is maintaining performance KPI’s, holding QBR’s with carrier base and enacting corrective actions where necessary
Partner with internal stakeholders to align on business requirements for transportation to fulfill customer expectations
Develop and grow team to continuously improve and innovate how the transportation space is being managed
Drive results through looking through data and developing trends amongst different shipping tendencies
Collaborate cross-functionally and liaise with internal and/or external stakeholders, including senior leaders
Qualifications
BA, BS or equivalent experience in related field preferred
Advance Degree is desired
8-12 years of experience preferred
Supply Chain Certification (i.e. APICS) preferred
Extensive Truckload, Intermodal, and LTL domestic transportation background
Strong Parcel transportation background
Working knowledge of logistics management technologies
Experience with SAP preferred
Experience with SQL, Alteryx, Tableau preferred
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Anticipated salary range: $86,400 – $129,570
