We are seeking a commissioning and Start-Up Engineer for either Houston TX or our Allentown, PA global headquarters who will provide Commissioning & Startup Leadership support to new plants, retrofit projects, and turnarounds from development to start up, and will support asset management/productivity initiatives for all Americas (the Region) Projects through the coordination of the activities from the engineers & operations teams stationed at plants.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide & maintain a safe work environment for self & others. Employ good housekeeping methods and demonstrate leadership with all company & industry safe work processes to prevent injuries. Ensure proper documentation is maintained for safety related activities.
The position, depending on the incumbent, will primarily support Hydrogen Electrolysis processes and may support other technologies which include: Air Separation (both large and Generated gas facilities), HYCO, Helium, Gasification, and Ammonia.
Commission and startup the units as prescribed by the Work Instruction Procedures
A member of the field leadership team to plan, manage, and prepare equipment and systems for first time startup
Develop work processes and strategy for field construction and commissioning of rotating equipment
Understand PLC and DCS controls, logic, PID tuning, and advanced control systems
Setting the strategy and leading support contractors and personnel to properly install and startup equipment.
Lead and provide commissioning support in the new installation, existing plant modifications, on-going operations, and continuous improvement and maintenance activities for the facilities in the Region. Ensure the activities related meet legal requirements and comply with Air Products safety and operations standards.
Mentor site operations and engineering teams in managing plant production efficiently based on input provided from Plant Management and Plant Process Engineering to ensure safety and reliability targets are met to achieve maximum profitable. Utilize the PIC center when applicable to assist the local teams for day to day operations.
Provide Commissioning, Startup, Operations and Technical Sales Support to the Equipment Sales & Product Services Team for new installations, existing plant modifications, on-going operations, and continuous improvement and maintenance activities for Air Products joint ventures, sale of equipment and potential new customers in the Region.
Minimum Qualifications
Engineering graduate (bachelors in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering as a minimum preferred)
12 years of Operations, Commissioning, Startup or Engineering in a technical or plant role Demonstrated “hands-on” ability to operate, commission, startup, troubleshoot, and repair various plant related issues.
