Performs diagnostic sleep studies related to the evaluation and treatment of patients with sleep disorders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Graduate of a CoARC accredited School of Respiratory Care with an Associates of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy.
2. West Virginia Registered Respiratory Therapist, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed. Complete a Sleep Technology Approved Resource (STAR) Program & obtain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist within 2 years of employment.
3. Certification in CPR.
EXPERIENCE:
1. One (1) year of Polysomnographic experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Current certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. (RPSGT)
2. Clinical Sleep Educator Certificate from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
EXPERIENCE:
1. One (1) year of Sleep Study scoring experience.

1. Performs high-quality polysomnograms
2. Utilizes proper testing montages to detect abnormal sleep architecture, EEG/EKG abnormalities, abnormal respiratory events, and low oximetry.
3. Performs equipment pre- and post-testing including impedance check and calibrations and records in patients permanent record.
4. Obtains consent for Video Taping, Filming and/or Photography and Polysomnogram.
5. Completes Pre- and Post-sleep Questionnaires.
6. Document history of the patients sleep problems and documentation for each procedure.
7. Detect sleep hygiene problems and record appropriately.
8. Charts clinical notes for interpretation by physician regarding action taken and any comfort measures provided during sleep testing.
9. Records an event log with chronological documentation of patient interaction during sleep testing.
10. Labels, files, and stores medical data and test results according to Policy/Procedure in Sleep Center Manual.
