The Role
Lumen offers a fully immersive, 10-week summer internship program. Our interns demonstrate curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing technology. We believe that empowering our people and helping them reach their full potential is essential for the long-term success of both Lumen and our customers.
Program dates: May 30 – August 8, 2025.
Location
This position is fully remote/ work from home.
The Main Responsibilities
Lumen’s Brand and Creative team are hiring two design focused interns for our summer program to support graphic and web design projects.
Other responsibilities of intern will include:
Design beautiful, engaging and effective material, including advertising and marketing campaigns, event collateral, web pages and more
Adhere to our brand and design standards; maintain company-wide consistency
Conceptualize and offer creative solutions for innovating, improving and optimizing our output, and help separate us from our competition
Experience designing for digital/online and print
Collaborate with a cross-functional, distributed teams that includes UX designers, Art Directors, copywriters, video editors, developers, project and campaign managers
Stay current with latest standards, changes, and trends in visual and web design fields
Actively participate in design team meetings, critiques, and guilds
Include feedback from previous campaigns when designing new solutions for maximum impact and success
Design responsive, accessible, and effective web pages
What We Look For in a Candidate
Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate’s commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.
Required qualifications
Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship
Graduating August 2025 – May 2027
Preferred fields include bur not limited to: Graphic Design, Web Design, Marketing, Visual Arts or similar degree field
Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025)
US work authorization is required. Individuals needing visa sponsorship are not eligible.
Proficiency and understanding of:
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and XD or Figma
Understanding of responsive web design, HTML and CSS is highly desirable
Proficiency in illustration and animation is highly desirable
Familiarity with Microsoft PPT
Understanding of typography, layout, color theory and composition
Preferred qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, problem solving and organizational skills
Must be able to clearly articulate ideas and show creative process
Curious, quick learner, reliable and ready to work hard
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; well-organized
Ability to design multiple elements that align with the current corporate brand identity
Ability to follow direction, multi-task, work on several priorities while meeting deadlines
Extreme attention to detail and consistency
Genuine interest in technology
Compensation
Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual’s level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.
Hourly Based Pay Range:
Min: $22.00/hour
Max: $35.00/hour
What to Expect Next
