MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience in citrus plant care and general greenhouse maintenance.
Possession of a valid Driver License.

JOB DUTIES:
GENERAL STATEMENT: This position is responsible for the assisting in the planting and care of bureau citrus plants as well as the maintenance of greenhouse structures they are grown in.
General plant care which includes, but is not limited to, pruning, sprouting, transplanting, irrigation, fertilizing, mixing and spraying pesticides, weed removal, leaf and debris pick-up and pot washing.
Perform minor maintenance and repair of greenhouse structures and equipment used. Such items include screen, plastic side panels, ground mat, gutters, cool pads, cool pad pumps, sprayers etc.
Communicate and coordinate with supervisor, coworkers, and visitors in a positive and professional manner.
Conducts and documents routine inspections as needed in citrus nurseries to ensure proper inspection standards and work orders are maintained.
Perform maintenance duties at DPI Budwood facilities as needed and assigned.
Perform general plant care, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
Interacts with the public and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of irrigation systems, herbicides and pesticides.
Skills in the use of basic lawn and landscape tools and equipment.
Skill in using hand power and bench tools; capable of safely operating and maintaining gas-powered equipment.
Skill in pressure washing and painting structures and equipment.
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of procedures and methods used in the repair and maintenance of the facilities at the Department of Agriculture- Division of Plant Industry.
Ability to follow instructions and determine work priorities, ensure proper completion of work assignments in a timely manner; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to work in hot, cold, and humid environments.
Ability to walk on uneven ground and in inclement weather.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and bend repetitiously.
