Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist has the primary responsibility to develop and support the quality processes at the tank yard. This position will assist the Quality department to assure that Hausbeck products comply with our quality systems standards, as well as FDA, customer, and other regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

– Responsible for developing and implementing any modifications, QA procedures (SOPs) and effective process controls at the tank yard.
– Verify that the highest possible product quality standards are maintained during all stages of salt stock processing. Report any significant deviations or problems to the appropriate management for action.
– Audit compliance with quality assurance policies and procedures. Report any findings to upper management. Work with management to create plans for moving toward compliance.
– Assist with conducting routine GMP and sanitation audits of tank yard operations.
– Performs quality assurance checks for the incoming cucumbers received at the tank yard.
– Responsible for monitoring all tanks for sufficient brine levels and taking additional steps to address and resolve discrepancies.
– Update and maintain records regarding the tracking of all brine ingredients and testing.
– Ensure that the fermentation process is being followed correctly (purging, tank cleaning, tube cleaning, all testing procedures including sugar, pH, calcium chloride, salt, enzymes, etc).
– Responsible for ensuring salting tank procedures are successfully carried out for winter storage.
– Responsible for conducting laboratory testing at the tank yard.
– Maintain proper inventory levels of lab chemicals and supplies.
– Acts as an effective team member in supporting quality disciplines, decisions, and practices.
– Comply with SOPs, GAP guidelines, GMP, HACCP, and FDA procedures.

Education and/or Experience:

– High School Diploma
– Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
– Experience and knowledge of SQF, GAP, FDA, USDA, MDARD, and FISMA

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Ability to work with numbers and do basic calculations.

With good reasoning and sound judgment abilities.
