### Position Summary
The Director of Clinical Skills Education is a key member of the Academic Programs unit, reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic Programs. The Director of Clinical Skills Education leads the planning, development, and execution of clinical skills activities and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) in the preclinical curriculum. In addition, the Director creates meaningful outcome measures for assessment of clinical skills. The Director leads a team including Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Assistants supporting clinical skills instruction and activities. The Director works collaboratively with other veterinarians and faculty engaged in preclinical and clinical education.
The Director also collaborates closely with the Academic Programs team members that oversee course teams and student support, with the Director of Clinical Education, and with the Director of Outcomes Assessment and Continuous Improvement. Initiatives developed and executed by the Director must align with the College Strategic Plan, mission, and values from design through implementation. This position will initially focus on initiatives within the preclinical DVM program with opportunity to expand its scope in the future to include assistance in the clinical year with OSCEs, in-Training Evaluation Reports (ITERs), and Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs).

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, support, and execute clinical skills training in the DVM curriculum in coordination with faculty and staff.
Develop assessment for clinical skill activities.
Manage clinical skills facilities: Clinical Skills Lab and college teaching barn
Coordinate access to practice opportunities for students.
Coordinate with MSU south campus farms: dairy, swine, beef, poultry, sheep, and horse teaching and research centers.
Develop and manage end-of-year OSCEs for years 1, 2, and 3 in the DVM curriculum.
Contribute to the Surgery and Anesthesia course.
Lead clinical skills and OSCE remediation.
Provide 4^th^ year student, intern and resident support as needed.
Manage stations in and access to the Open Access skills lab for all years.
Lead a support team of veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and veterinary assistants.
Collaborate closely and effectively with course and student support teams.
Collaborate closely with the Director of Clinical Education and the Director of Outcomes Assessment and Continuous Improvement.
Plan and develop evaluation methods for clinical skills and OSCE assessment.
