ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost, materials, and labor required for projects. You will collaborate closely with Production Managers, Engineers, VDC/BIM, Project Managers, Purchasing, and external customers to ensure that manufactured products are delivered on time and within budget. Your role will involve analyzing project specifications, interpreting blueprints, and assessing resource requirements to develop comprehensive cost estimates.

Project Analysis:

Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand project requirements.

Identify and assess the scope of work, including the types and quantities of components needed for manufacturing.

Cost Estimation:

Utilize estimating software and tools to calculate the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and other resources required for manufacturing.

Conduct cost analysis based on historical data, market trends, and supplier quotations.

Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for submission to clients.

Material Takeoff:

Perform material takeoffs from blueprints and specifications to determine the quantities of electrical components needed for manufacturing.

Create bills of materials (BOMs) and procurement lists for purchasing departments.

Collaboration:

Coordinate with Production Managers, Engineers, VDC, Project Managers, External Customers and Purchasing teams to ensure alignment on project requirements and timelines.

Communicate effectively with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and lead time information for electrical materials and components.

Risk Assessment:

Identify potential risks and challenges associated with manufacturing projects, such as material availability, lead times, and cost fluctuations.

Develop mitigation strategies to address risks and ensure project success.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and market trends related to manufacturing.

Recommend process improvements and cost saving measures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the estimating process.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in an Engineering discipline (civil, mechanical, electrical, industrial,) Construction Management, or related major preferred.

Proven estimating or quotations experience in manufacturing or general or electrical construction preferred.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.

Familiarity with estimating software and tools (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam).

Excellent communication and people skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think critically.

Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment.

This role regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.

This position requires the ability to lift files and open file cabinets.

Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, and occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch.

This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
