Motor Sub-Assembler

Whippany Actuation Systems is a dynamic aerospace company that designs and manufactures electromechanical actuators and control electronics for commercial and military applications. We are looking for a Motor Sub-Assembler to fabricate or assemble mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications.

In this role, you will typically:

  • Assemble, wind, solder, test, and inspect stators, armatures, and components for use in motors and electro-mechanical actuation systems;
  • Set-up and operate grinders and balancing machines to rough turn and polish armatures and dynamically balance armatures and motors;
  • Perform various production operations including deburring, varnishing, drilling, straightening, lapping and grinding using hand, machine and special tools and mechanical measuring instruments.

We require:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent;
  • One year of experience or equivalent coursework which includes reading and interpreting blue prints and/or schematics or electronics or any combination thereof;
  • An ability to wind, or apply varnish, paint and balance rotors and armatures or use a variety or production equipment and machinery;
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

We would really like to see:

  • One year of J STD-001 soldering experience;
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical ability;
  • Ability to use electrical and mechanical measuring instruments and hand tools;
  • Strong math skills, good oral and written communication skills, and basic computer skills
