Position Summary

Stony Brook Medicine is expanding speech language pathology services. Our team of medical Speech-Language Pathologists provide inpatient and outpatient services to a wide variety of patient populations in the areas of feeding/swallowing, voice, speech, language and cognition. Our growing Department is looking for a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist with advanced clinical and communication skills to work collaboratively with our medical team.

Responsibilities for the SLP in this position will include:

  • Swallowing, voice and communication evaluations and treatment, including trach and speaking valve management, for inpatient and outpatient pediatric through older adult.

  • Objective assessments to include Stroboscopy and/or Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies/Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: MA or MS in Speech Language Pathology, NYS License in Speech Language Pathology, ASHA CCC-SLP. Minimum of 1 year experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in a medical setting including acute care, acute/subacute rehab, SNF/long-term care or an ENT/outpatient hospital practice.

Candidate must meet the requirements of the Medical Staff Office for staff privileges.

Preferred: Proficiency providing voice evaluation and treatment services including performing and interpreting Stroboscopy.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicines Employee Health Services
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $95,790 – $119,104 Base

The above salary range represents SBUHs good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidates validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:

  • Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
