JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator, the Bus Driver transports passengers safely and according to schedule.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Regulatory and Corporate Compliance
Complete accurate, timely, and legible records (i.e. trip manifests, pre/post-trip inspection forms, etc.)
Meet requirements of the Department of Transportation and NYS Department of Motor Vehicles Article 19A Vehicle and Traffic Laws as they apply to commercial motor vehicle operators.
Adhere to the requirements of the mandated Drug and Alcohol Testing Program for commercial motor vehicle operators.
Financial Management
Responsible for collecting fare box revenue from public riders.
Responsible for operating vehicle in efficient and economical manner.
Ensure trip manifests are accurate for billing purposes.
Person Centered Services
Assist passengers in understanding proper etiquette in utilizing public transportation services.
Transport passengers according to established routes and schedules.
Provide assistance to passengers as needed (may include assistance with self-care needs).
Promote professional and customer focused attitude at all times. Present neat, well-groomed, clean, appropriate appearance.
Assist passengers with questions regarding public transportation routes and services.
Program Service Management
Adhere to all Agency and Division policies and procedures and keep abreast of updates and changes through mail, email, bulletin boards, newsletter, etc.
Follow all Driver and Monitor requirements as outlined in Transportation Team Manual.
Keep vehicle clean both inside and out
Accountable for the responsible handling of all mail, interoffice and interdepartmental, and all office supply transport and deliveries when assigned or when transporting mail on bus route.
Adhere to designated route plan. Verify and report immediately any change in route schedule with Transportation Coordinator and/or Dispatch Office.
Physical Plant and Safety
Assist passengers upon entering and exiting vehicles by practicing safe passenger assistance techniques.
Complete daily pre and post trip inspections on assigned vehicle.
Perform monthly fire drill and fire extinguisher checks.
Monitor supply of safety equipment in vehicle and report to the Transportation Coordinator any discrepancies or needs.
Abide by all codes and rules to the operation of safe vehicles as stipulated by the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, New York State Commissioner of Traffic, and New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Contact with Others
Work closely with all parties (emergency personnel, Agency personnel, Dispatcher/Scheduler, etc.) in the event of an emergency such as accident, breakdown, weather delay, and/or other difficulties.

The Bus Driver possesses a working knowledge of transportation regulations.
The Bus Driver operates buses, wheelchair lifts and pressure washers.
The person in this position must have the ability to read and write.
Qualifications
Valid NYS Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) CP and no airbrake restriction
Must comply with NYS DMV Article 19A vehicle and traffic law
Must comply with required Drug and Alcohol Testing
Alignment with agency’s mission, vision and code of ethics.
Demonstrate respectfulness, professionalism, effective teamwork and empathy such as active listening.
CPR/First Aid/AED instruction and SCIP Certification within the first six months of hire
Will be required to enroll in LENS (Licensed Event Notification System).
Authority and Accountability
People: This position supervises no one.
Operations: The person in this position is responsible for transporting passengers.
Budget: This position has no budget responsibilities.
