What You Will Do :

We are currently searching for Laboratory Technician to perform RNA and DNA extractions and quality control for long-read sequencing. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.

Assist in establishing and optimizing DNA and RNA isolation protocols for cell, blood, and tissue samples for long read sequencing.

Identify pitfalls in the original choice of methods or experimental direction and redirect the study to achieve improved results.

Determine when modifications and adjustments are necessary for experiments.

Work with staff on performing various experiments and procedures related to Nanopore long-read sequencing of DNA and RNA samples.

Operate and maintain instrumentation for long-read sequencing of DNA and RNA samples.

Store new samples, update database, retrieve samples with proper authorization.

Collect, enter, update, and maintain research data into laboratory notebooks and databases.

Draw conclusions about the results as related to the ability of the experiments to answer the questions posed.

Provide support for ordering reagents and equipment required for the laboratory.

Ensure that adequate clean inventory is available for immediate usage.

Perform routine experiments and tests, including tissue culture, cell separation, protein, and quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Follow established procedures and protocols; utilize aseptic technique to perform experiments.

Inventory, order, and maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment.

Perform laboratory maintenance tasks, including scheduling liquid waste container pickup.

Perform library preparation of samples for long-read DNA and RNA sequencing.

Collect, analyze, and interpret data; prepare summaries and reports based on results and finding.

Train new laboratory members in the correct use of equipment, application of techniques and laboratory protocols.

Provide support to laboratory staff in establishing and optimizing SOPs and protocols for processing long-read data.

What You Will Need :

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum of THREE (3) years of laboratory support experience.

DNA extraction

MS Office, including PowerPoint and Project

The annual salary range for this position is $49,800.00-$74,800.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
