Job Description
The chief objective of the operations manager is to provide day-to-day administrative and fiscal oversight for programs including the Coastal Virginia Center for Cyber Innovation, the Tech Talent Investment Program, the interdisciplinary schools, the vice provost for academic affairs and related new programs. Activities include supervising staff, reviewing budgets, making purchases related to the initiatives, maintaining records to track programmatic progress, and assisting the vice provost, COVA CCI program manager, and directors of the interdisciplinary schools. The position works closely with employees from regional institutions in the node to coordinate these activities.

Considerable knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word). Demonstrated clerical and office support skills. Effective and accurate keyboarding skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to edit text and proof read documents for grammar errors. Demonstrated ability to track expenditures, maintain accurate records of budget expenditures and perform a variety of payroll procedures across multiple programs. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with a diverse public. Demonstrated ability to independently plan work and adapt to changing priorities required.

Level and type of experience
Some fiscal and/or accounting related experience. Some related experience in budget, procurement, and acquisition. Some management or supervision experience. Some prior experience as an Administrative Assistant or related work.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Prior working experience with budgeting, procurement, payroll, grant and contract related activities in higher education is preferred. Prior working experience with computer spreadsheet and database software is preferred.
Conditions of Employment
This position is not a telework position.
Working hours 8:00am -5:00pm Monday through Friday.
Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary commensurate with education and experience
