Position Overview
This Building Supply Counter Sales Associate position is primarily responsible for handling all counter sales transactions of products and services provided by the Company to walk in customers and over the phone orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Process orders, provide pricing information, recommend product substitutes, coordinate orders and delivery of products and expedite sales orders as and when required
Sell distributor products and services
Determine and disseminate customer pricing and availability information
Recognize when special pricing is required and work with Management to provide competitive quotes
Understand product applications and assist customers in their selections
Know distributor inventory including substitutes as well as local competitor information
Interact with Outside Sales, the Sales Manager, Purchasing and marketing for exchanging customer required information and customer feedback
Stay up to date and informed on products and their uses
Set up new customers and maintain existing customer data in system
Coordinate with accounting and warehouse department in daily sales processing, including customer pickup from the warehouse or customer delivery
Keep all counter and show room displays current and neat.
Maintain clean counter and sales area
Understand and abide by company policies and procedures
Assist in warehouse operations as needed
Willing to run a fork lift and loader to assist in loading customers
Other Requirements
Provide quick and efficient service to obtain maximum sales while focusing on customer satisfaction
Be able to address customer questions and give information that a customer needs to make decisions for their sale
Display a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
Follow strict adherence to Company safety policies
Must be willing to work weekends and off-site trade shows
Conduct follow up calls on orders with the customer to ensure customer satisfaction or resolve any issues
Communicate effectively with the customers regarding any relevant procedures and policies which might be beneficial to them
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required or assigned
