This position is Engineering Technician, Manual Wheelchair Development. This position will provide support to the design engineering teams by setting up test equipment, creating fixtures, testing products, and documenting results.

Support the Product Development and Sustaining Engineering teams for Manual Wheelchair Development in design and development of new components and systems

Execute verification testing required for either new product development or sustaining engineering changes. Support through protocol generation, setup of tests leveraging necessary hardware, execution and monitoring of tests, teardown, and report generation

Create engineering documentation including test protocols and test reports.

Support documentation and maintenance of test equipment and fixtures. Keep test equipment and test lab in good working order and adhere to strict safety protocols to ensure accurate testing and a safe working environment.

Build 3D models and drawings of test fixtures in SolidWorks and fabricate test fixtures

Assist engineers with drafting/drawing, prototyping, first article inspections, and documentation as needed

Complete assigned tasks and communicate professionally and effectively at various levels of the Permobil team

Requirements:

High school diploma required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related technical field preferred.

5 years of relevant experience

Proficiency with 3D-modelling tools, SolidWorks preferred.

Familiarity with operation of hand tools and equipment

Interest in mechanical systems design, fabrication, maintenance, and operation

Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner, both verbally and in written format. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other communication tools

Hands-on experience with lab equipment and testing procedures and familiarity with industry standards and regulations is preferred
