Position Summary

The MIG/TIG Welder will join, fabricate, and repair steel parts by using specialized gas metal arc welding techniques and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate MIG/TIG welding techniques.

Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.

Manufacture fixtures and prepare welding set up per safety guidelines.

Interprets mechanical drawings including weld requirement symbology.

Works with conventional and precision measuring instruments.

Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.

Finish product through use of various manual and power grinding tools.

Performs routine maintenance on grinding equipment.

Produces products in allotted time frame/ delivery standard.

Ability to pass required welding certification tests.

Work with department computers entering data.

Support the safety and quality programs by following all accompanying rules and established processes.

Other duties as assigned

Shift

2nd Shift – Overtime availability is subject to production schedule.

Monday – 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM

Tuesday – 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM

Wednesday – 4:00 PM to 2:30A M

Thursday – 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM

Friday – As Needed

Skills and Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.

Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, and bander.

Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.

Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.

Ability to convert metric to English.

Provide high-quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.

Speak, write and comprehend conversational English.

Strong attention to detail.

High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Must pass weld test certification.

Robotic welding experience is a plus.

Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training is preferred.
